Fault Code 8

8, Operating Solenoid, R/P Block
Faults are recognized in the wiring, the output stage and the solenoid itself.

NOTE:
- In order to prevent the selector lever from being moved (shiftlock), the Tiptronic control module connects ground to output B4 if all of the conditions below are satisfied at the same time:
- The ignition is switched on or the engine is running
- The selector lever is in position P or N
- The brake is not applied
- If one of the above conditions is not met, the selector lever will not be blocked.

Diagnosis conditions
- Ignition on
- Apply brake and release it again

Possible fault cause
- Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit
- Operating solenoid is faulty
- Tiptronic control module is faulty

Affected pins
Connector B: Pin 4

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
- Leave the key in the ignition for these tests.
- If the key was removed, the ignition must first be switched on again in order to release the mechanical selector lever lock (keylock).
