Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
Removing and installing intake distributor (engine removed) - GT3
Caution: When working on the engine, absolute cleanliness is essential! An engine cover should be used on the engine assembly support. Lay removed engine parts on a clean base and cover them without fail. Cover open oil lines. Even the smallest particles of dirt can block up oil bores.
Removing oil container
Note;
- In order to ensure that the correct amount of oil is changed, a drainage time of approximately 20 minutes should be observed.
1. Remove oil filler cap.
2. Undo the oil drain plug (a/f 19) on the oil container. Make sure to counter with a wrench (a/f 27) when doing this. Loosen screw and drain off excess oil into an oil collection container. Make sure that the general rules on waste oil removal are observed.
3. Equip oil drain plug with new sealing ring and tighten. Make sure to counter with a wrench when tightening.
Tightening torque 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
4. Loosen oil drain plug on the crankcase. Loosen oil drain plug (a/f 15) and drain off excess oil into an oil collection container. Then equip the plug with a new sealing ring, position and tighten. Make sure that the general rules on waste oil removal are observed.
Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.)
5. Disassemble strap attaching the oil filler pipe using M6 pan-head screw (Allen key width 5) and remove the oil filler pipe from the retainer -arrow-.
6. Loosen union nut on the return line with an SW 32 open-ended wrench on the oil container -top arrow-. Make sure to counter with an SW 32 open-ended wrench at the oil container. Loosen the screw-in clip -bottom arrow- on the bleeder line and remove the bleeder hose.
7. Pull cable plug off the oil level sender -arrow pointing upwards- and set it aside.
8. Loosen the union nut on the return line on the oil container -arrow- with the SW 32 open-ended wrench. Make sure to counter with an SW 32 open-ended wrench at the flange connection.
9. Loosen the hose clamp on the positive crankcase ventilation hose -arrow- and pull off the vent hose.
10. Detach inlet line between the oil container and the engine. To do so loosen the two M6 x 16 hexagon-head bolts -arrow-. Collect the escaping engine oil.
11. Loosen the three M8 SW 13 fastening screws -arrows- on the oil container. Carefully remove oil container.
Installing oil container
1. Replace the sealing ring between inlet line and check valve.
2. Position oil container on the mounting points on the engine, screw in fastening screws (SW 13) and tighten. Make sure that the inlet line is positioned correctly on the check valve.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
3. Tighten inlet line between the oil container and the engine. To do so tighten the two M6 x 16 hexagon-head bolts -arrow-.
Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lbs.)
4. Push positive crankcase ventilation hose onto the flange and tighten the screw-in clip -arrow-.
5. Position the union nut on the return line -arrow- and tighten with an SW 32 open-ended wrench. Make sure to counter with an SW 32 open-ended wrench at the oil container.
Tightening torque of union nut M30 x 1.5 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
6. Connect the oil level sender cable plug -bottom arrow-.
7. Tighten union nut on the return line with an SW 32 open-ended wrench on the oil container -top arrow-. Make sure to counter with an SW 32 open-ended wrench at the oil container. Push the bleeder hose onto the flange and tighten the screw-in clip -bottom arrow-.
Tightening torque of union nut M30 x 1.5 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
8. Place oil filler pipe in the retainer -arrow- , position strap on the retainer and tighten with 1 M6 pan-head screw (Allen key width 5).
Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lbs.)
9. Fill engine oil according to the specifications.
