Concern:
Installing new generation PCM2. Only for vehicles with CD radio CDR23 (I No. 697)
Information:
The PCM of the new generation, the PCM2 (Fig. 1), as compared with the "old" PCM, is equipped as follows:
- 5.8 inch TFT screen in 16:9 distribution;
- 2 tuner diversity in FM range (selects frequency with better reception quality);
- memory-based navigation, i.e., during the route guidance function, an audio CD can also be played;
- two keys with direct access to the menu items "Setting" and "Back" as well as minimal menu depth;
- for vehicles with on-board computer (I No. 659), the most important audio information or tips on driving can also be graphically represented in the instrument cluster.
Parts Information:
The navigation software for USA/Canada contains 2 x CDs and must be ordered separately from NavTech. The NavTech customer support number is, 1 (888) 628-6277.
Warning!
Risk of short circuit and fire - due to work on vehicle electrical system.
> When working on the electrical system, the battery must be disconnected and covered.
> Always route the electrical leads without tensile stress and so that no chafing occurs and secure with tie-wraps/insulating tape to existing lines/components.
Caution!
Damage in area of the instrument panel and windshield - due to machine cutting work on the alarm readiness unit (installation location GPS antenna)
> Cover or mask components in this area.
> Work (filing or sawing) in this area with great care.

Work Procedure:
1. Preparatory work.
1.1 Remove battery cover. Disconnect and cover the battery.
1.2 Remove radio, heating/air-conditioning control module, switch cover, center air vents and front holder for radio.
1.3 Remove left cover of center console, cover for center console, CD tray and oddments tray.
1.4 Remove air duct for left footwell and left carpet lining of center console - refer to Technical Manual.
2. Converting heating/air-conditioning control module.
2.1 Unscrew screws (A) and remove rear Z-holder (B) for radio.
2.2 Route the electrical wiring harness of the heating/air-conditioning control module (A) from the installation opening (B) in the instrument panel to the installation slot (C) in the center console and secure.
2.3 Remove plug-in receptacle from the old cover of the heating/air-conditioning control module and insert in the heating/air-conditioning control module (A).
2.4 Insert plug into the heating/air-conditioning control module.
2.5 Insert heating/air-conditioning control module (B) into the lower installation slot of the center console and tighten with screws (C).
Note:
Use new screws (Torx 4 x 20, see parts list).
3. Completing the vehicle.
3.1 Install the CD tray, cover for the center console, cover of the heating/air-conditioning control module and left cover of the center console.
3.2 Install the left carpet lining of the center console and air duct for the left footwell - refer to Technical Manual.
4. Installing GPS antenna
4.1 Unclip cover of the alarm readiness display.
4.2 Remove alarm readiness display and set aside. Important! Cover or mask windscreen and instrument panel.
4.3 Cut out the cable bushing (A) for the GPS antenna lead in the housing of the alarm readiness display using a round file.
Note:
The cutout (A) should be big enough so that it will ensure that no chafing or tension occurs in the routing of the GPS antenna lead.
4.3.1 Remove chips and protective cover from the neighboring components again.
4.4 Securing the GPS antenna (A) on a metal plate.
4.5 Route the GPS antenna lead through the retaining bracket of the alarm readiness display (B) and the cutout (arrow) and secure.
4.6 Route the connecting line of the GPS antenna through the installation opening for the PCM2 and secure.
4.7 Connect the plug of the connecting line with the GPS antenna lead.
4.8 Insert alarm readiness display.
4.9 Clip in the cover for the alarm readiness display.
5. Completing the vehicle.
5.1 Insert the rear Z holder (A) for PCM2 and fasten with screws (B).
5.2 Convert the box holder to the new front Z holder for PCM2 and Install the front Z holder for PCM2 - refer to Technical Manual.
6. Completing the PCM2.
6.1. Unlock tabs (arrows and remove cover (A) from the PCM2.
6.2 Insert navigation module (B) into the right drawer slot of the PCM2.
6.3 Clip cover to PCM2.
7. Completing the vehicle.
7.1 Insert plug into the PCM2 and install PCM2 - refer to Technical Manual.
7.2 Install the switch cover.
7.3 Connect battery and install the battery cover - refer to Technical Manual.
8. Programming PCM2 with PST2
8.1 Activate PCM2.
8.2 Read out PCM2 fault memory and erase.
8.3 Match the MOST required installed components list to the actual installed components list.
8.4 Code the PCM2 according to vehicle type, versions, country-specific tuner settings and MOST switch.
8.5 Check MOST components.
8.6 Activate navigation in the "instrument cluster" control module system.
8.7 After programming is finished, read out the fault memory of all systems, remedy any existing faults, and erase fault memory.

9. Carry out function test.
