36, Speed sensor
The ratio of transmission output speed to engine speed is monitored

Diagnosis conditions
- ATF level OK
- ATF temperature [>] 60° C
- Selector lever position 'D', 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th gear
- Engine speed [>] 3008 rpm

Possible fault cause
- ATF level too low or too high
- Short circuit to ground/B+/mutual short circuit or open circuit in the circuit to the control module
- Faulty shielding of signal lines
- Sensor for transmission output speed (output-shaft speed sensor) is faulty
- Transmission is faulty (no frictional connection)
- Tiptronic control module is faulty

Affected pins
Pin 14, pin 42 and pin 15

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

WARNING:
- Danger of scalding by hot ATF.
- Hot ATF can cause burns if it comes into contact with the skin or clothing.
- Drain ATF only when cold.
- Wear suitable protective clothing.

DANGER:
Risk of damage to the transmission input-speed sensor (turbine sensor) if the hydraulic control unit is laid on its back when removed.
- When the hydraulic control unit is removed, place it only with its bottom side on a suitable surface.
