This is where the message about the 'manual' or 'automatic' driving programme is sent to the instrument cluster by means of a PWM signal.

Diagnostic conditions
- Engine running
- Selector lever position 'D' or 'M'

Possible cause of fault
- Short circuit to B+/ground or open circuit in the wire to the instrument cluster
- Instrument cluster faulty
- Tiptronic control unit faulty
