Thermostat: Service and Repair

Removing and installing coolant regulator (thermostat)

Preliminary work

1. Remove transmission.
2. Remove the front engine guard.

Draining Cooling System:





3. Drain cooling system.

Mount For Thermostat Housing:






Remove coolant regulator

Thermostat Housing:





1. Pull hoses off the thermostat housing from below (transmission area) and then loosen the -3 fastening screws-.

2. Carefully take off the cover. Coolant emerges.

Bleeder Valve:





3. Note or mark position of bleeder valve -arrow-.

Thermostat:





4. Remove thermostat from the housing.


Installing coolant regulator

Thermostat:





1. Insert thermostat with spring up into the housing.

Bleeder Valve:





2. Align bleeder valve -arrow-.

Housing Cover:





3. Position housing cover with new seal.

Fastening Screws For Thermostat Housing:





4. Tighten the 3 fastening screws -arrows-. Tightening torque 6 ft. lbs..
5. Connect coolant hoses and fit spring-band clamps.

Subsequent work

1. Install transmission.
2. Fill and bleed the cooling system according to instructions. --> Filling the cooling system (includes bleeding)'
