Rear Suspension

Removing and installing bottom axle strut
Removal
1. Raise vehicle and remove wheel.
2. Remove axle strut at wheel carrier.
^ Mark eccentric screws before removal!
3. Remove eccentric screw and fastening screw from axle strut to suspension subframe.
4. Remove axle strut carefully in downward direction and underneath drive shaft.

Installation

Caution! Danger of injury and material damage if the wheel carrier is raised incorrectly!
^ Do not raise the wheel suspension higher than the normal vehicle position (vehicle resting on wheels)! When raising, use a suitable intermediate layer (hard rubber)!
^ Do not damage the brake cover plate!


Note!
^ Carry out a visual inspection of all parts! Replace self-locking nuts!
^ Replace all expansion screws (screws which are fitted with torque angle tightening procedure)! Check vehicle setting values after repair end adjust if necessary!





^ The entire threaded parts of the axle must be tightened in vehicle position! Vehicle position means: Vehicle standing on the wheels, or the wheel suspension is being raised with a universal vehicle lift! -Dimension X-, from lower edge of wing to middle of axle 506 mm ± 10 mm corresponds to vehicle position!





^ Use an intermediate layer (hard rubber)! Do not damage the brake cover plate!
^ Use correct tightening torques!

1. Position axle strut in wheel carrier and secure against falling with fastening screw and nut.
2. Place axle strut in subframe mounting point and install fastening screw. Install eccentric screw, turn to previously marked position and tighten in vehicle position.
3. Tighten fastening nut from axle strut to wheel carrier with specified tightening torque.
4. Position wheel and secure.
5. Check vehicle setting values and correct if necessary.
