Fault Code 0812

Brake pedal pulse sender actuated/in brake booster

NOTE: A brake light switch set incorrectly (or sticking) on the brake pedal can result in the brake pedal not returning to its initial position (normal position). If the fault code specified above is stored in the fault memory together with the fault type 'implausible signal', first check setting of the brake light switch and correct it if necessary.

Diagnostic conditions

- Ignition on
- Internal PSM control module function test
- Brake pedal not actuated/actuated

Possible cause of fault

- The signal that was received is different from the expected signal. Mechanical problem: the brake pedal does not return to its original position/brake light switch is not set properly (implausible signal)
- Short circuit to B+ (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Short circuit to ground (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Short circuit with respect to each other (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Open circuit in wiring harness (electrical fault in electric circuit)

Affected pins

PSM control module plug:
- Pin 27 'release switch signal 2 (brake pedal actuated)'
- Pin 28 'power supply to release switch'
- Pin 30 'release switch signal 1 (brake pedal not actuated)'

Diagnosis/troubleshooting PSM 0101

NOTE: Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected 'pins' on the PSM control module plug connection and the 'pins' on the 'brake pedal pulse sender actuated' plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. The wiring of the affected components must also be checked for external damage. Repair damaged or corroded 'pins' if possible, otherwise replace affected 'pins'. Repair or replace damaged wire.
