Fault Code 0814
Active brake booster
Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
- Internal PSM control module function test
Possible cause of fault
- Leaking membranes or faulty solenoid valves or stiff metal piston (mechanical fault)
- Short circuit to B+ (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Short circuit to ground (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Short circuit in magnetic coil winding (electrical fault in electric circuit)
- Open circuit in wiring harness or in magnetic coil winding (electrical fault in electric circuit)
Affected pins
PSM control module plug:
- Pin 17 'voltage activation of magnetic coil in active brake booster'
- Pin 31 'ground of magnetic coil in active brake booster'
Diagnosis/troubleshooting PSM 0101
NOTE:
- For a 'mechanical faults', the vacuum and pressure chambers as well as the vacuum hoses of the brake booster must be checked for leaks before checking the electrics.
- Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected 'pins' on the PSM control module plug connection and the 'pins' on the 'Brake pedal pulse sender actuated' plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. The wiring of the affected components must also be checked for external damage. Repair damaged or corroded 'pins' if possible, otherwise replace affected 'pins'. Repair or replace damaged wire.
