Porsche Stability Management (PSM)



Fault Code 1044

Control unit coded incorrectly

Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
- Internal function test on PSM control unit

Possible fault causes
- Control unit was replaced, but was not coded
- Control unit was not coded correctly
- Pin assignment of PSM control unit connector incorrect (following repair work on connector)

NOTE: If PSM control unit is not coded or is coded incorrectly, both ABS and brake warning lights flash with a frequency of 1.1 Hz.

Affected pins

CAUTION:
- If repairs were carried out on the PSM control unit connector, check that the pin assignment is correct.
- Modified bridge on the connector, as of model year 2005.
- Bridge on PSM control unit connector up to and including model year 2004:
- between pins 'A9' and 'A14'
- Bridge on PSM control unit connector, as of model year 2005:
- between pins 'A9' and 'A12'
