Fault Code 1211
Fault code 1211Belt tensioner ignition circuit, rear driver's side
Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
- Internal function test on airbag triggering unit
Possible cause of fault
- Upper limit value exceeded (based on resistance value of wiring from airbag triggering unit to belt tensioner or of belt tensioner itself)
- Below lower limit (based on resistance value of wiring from airbag triggering unit to belt tensioner or of belt tensioner itself)
- Short circuit to B+ (based on wiring from pins 29 and 30 of airbag triggering unit and of belt tensioner at rear driver's side)
- Short circuit to ground (based on wiring from pins 29 and 30 of airbag triggering unit and of belt tensioner at rear driver's side)
- Open circuit (based on wiring from airbag triggering unit to belt tensioner or of belt tensioner itself)
- Rear driver-side belt tensioner faulty
- Airbag triggering unit airbag faulty
Affected pins
- Airbag triggering unit: Pins 29 and 30
- Plug connection for belt tensioner at rear driver's side: Pins 1 and 2
Diagnosis/troubleshooting
WARNING:
Danger of injury if vehicle is driven with special tools in place (commercially available tools included).
- Never drive with special tools or commercially available tools attached instead of the airbag units.
NOTE: Never disconnect plugs that are connected directly to airbag modules and belt tensioners because these have been connected at a defined contact pressure in order to prevent a malfunction due to the plug becoming loose during the life of the vehicle. The plug connections (mostly 3-pin) provided for this purpose must be disconnected using an integrated short- circuit bridge.
