Fault code 2053Transfer box control unit
Diagnostic conditions
- Ignition on
- Internal control unit function test
NOTE: For this fault there is no message in the instrument cluster and the Check Engine warning light remains out. For its internal calculations, the Tiptronic control unit uses the last stored value obtained via the CAN drive.
Possible cause of fault
- Signal from transfer box control unit does not correspond to expected signal (please read out fault memory)
- Signal from transfer box control unit does not correspond to expected signal (implausible signal)
- No message via CAN drive (no signal/communication)
- Transfer box control unit faulty
Affected pins
Tiptronic control unit plug:
- Pin 34 'CAN drive (low)'
- Pin 46 'CAN drive (high)'

NOTE: If there is no incoming signal/message via the CAN drive using several control units, the CAN drive must be checked for open or short circuits. Refer to 'Checking instructions/CAN data bus'.
