Secondary air injection pump output stage relay, bank 2 - open circuit

Diagnosis conditions
- Time elapsed after engine start-up greater than 10 seconds
- Battery positive voltage between 10 V and 16 V

Possible fault cause
- Fuse F12 faulty
- Voltage supply to relay faulty
- Open circuit in triggering wire from DME to secondary air injection pump relay, bank 2
- Secondary air injection pump relay, bank 2, faulty
- DME control module faulty

Affected terminals
DME control module connector A, pin 18, and secondary air injection pump relay, bank 2, pin 3

Diagnosis/troubleshooting

NOTE:
- It connector A is disconnected from the DME control module and the ignition is or was switched on, the 'DME Control Module TIMEOUT' fault is recorded in many control modules.
- It control module connector A was disconnected from the DME in the course of troubleshooting or if the voltage supply was interrupted elsewhere (battery, fuse), the throttle adjusting unit must be adapted.

NOTE: The output stage diagnostic only detects an open circuit in the control current circuit of the relay. Open circuits in the load current circuit are diagnosed using the oxygen sensor (secondary air injection pump is not operating, exhaust too rich) and have another fault code.
