Fault code P1602

Battery voltage, terminal 30

NOTE: First check the fuse. If fault code '1045 Selector lever switch' is also stored in memory, this indicates a faulty fuse or an open circuit in the wire for the Tiptronic control module and selector lever switch. Affected fuse: fuse 29 in fuse carrier at right of dashboard.

Diagnostic conditions
The following requirements are met for at least 0.5 seconds:
- Ignition on, voltage greater than 10.2 V and less than 15.5 V
- Internal Tiptronic control module function test was completed successfully
- Engine runs without malfunctions
- This fault is set if the measured battery voltage for terminal 30 '< 6.6 V for one second', and if this occurs 20 times

NOTE: The ignition must be switched off and then switched on again in order to display an error message in the instrument cluster.

Possible causes of fault
- 'Short circuit to ground', fuse faulty
- 'Short circuit to ground', short circuit to ground or open circuit in wire
- 'Short circuit to ground', battery/three-phase generator faulty
- 'Short circuit to ground', Tiptronic control module faulty

Affected pins
Tiptronic control module plug:
- Pin 3 'terminal 30', from fuse carrier at right of dashboard 'fuse 29'

Wiring diagram of power supply to terminal 30 of 'Tiptronic control module'

1 - Tiptronic control module
2 - Ignition switch
B+ - Terminal 30 power supply (pin 3)
F1 - Terminal 30 fuse, fuse carrier at right of dashboard 'fuse 29'
F2 - Terminal 30 fuse for ignition switch
F3 - Terminal 15 fuse, fuse carrier at right of dashboard 'fuse 51'
IG - Terminal 15 power supply (pins 27 and 28)
GND - Ground supply (pins 1 and 2)
VGND - Body ground

NOTE:
Visual inspection: In the next troubleshooting section, please check first that the affected 'pins' on the Tiptronic control module plug connection and the 'pins' on the 'existing transmission wiring' plug connection are neither damaged nor corroded. Remove any soiling or corrosion/oxidation. Replace damaged parts/wires.

NOTE:
Replacing control module: Before replacing the 'Tiptronic control module', the ground connections, power supply and plug connections on the control module must be checked. Please observe the coding of the control module. After the test drive, read out the fault memory again with the Porsche System Tester II No. 9588. Additional causes of faults that could damage the 'Tiptronic control module' should be detected and remedied.

Before carrying out the work instruction, please check fuse '29', terminal 30 power supply for the Tiptronic control module, in the fuse carrier at the right of the dashboard and replace it if necessary. After replacing the fuse, determine and remedy the cause of the fault in accordance with the work instruction below.
