Fuel Pump Relay 1 Output Stage - Open Circuit / Below Limit / Above Limit

Diagnostic conditions
- Battery positive voltage > 10 V
- Time elapsed after start-up > 5 sec.
- Fuel tank content > 15 liters
- No fuel pump "B" control circuit (P0230) faults in memory

Possible cause of fault
- Fuse FE13 faulty
- Fuel pump primary relay faulty
- Open circuit
- Short circuit to B+
- Short circuit to ground
- Vehicle electrical system control module faulty
- DME control module faulty

Affected terminals
DME control module connector A, pin 37

NOTE:
- When this fault is recorded, fuel pump 1 (left) is activated continuously
- When the driver's door is opened, fuel pump relay 2 is activated for a short time by the vehicle electrical system control module. Given this, a short circuit to B+ or ground can also be caused by a fault in this triggering wire or in the vehicle electrical system control module.
- Fuel supply system faults that are recorded (oxygen sensor range FRAO and FRAU) may be caused by an insufficient fuel supply at full load in single-pump operation.
