Information:
The telephone preparation for mobile phones kit includes an integrated antenna in the rear spoiler, various wires, a microphone and a console for the mobile phone holder. This mobile phone retrofitting kit makes it possible to use the telephone "hands-free". Connection is via the VDA standard (German Automobile Manufacturer's Association) 18-pin plug.
If the mobile phone is not installed immediately, the 18-pin plug and the antenna connector must remain under the right front seat. The holder and the accompanying mounting parts included in the kit should be left inside the car to enable the installation of a telephone system at a later date.

Work Procedure:
1. Preparatory work.
1.1 Disconnect and cover the battery.
1.2 Remove cover from rear spoiler (Technical Manual, Group 6, Part ID 6658).
1.3 Remove roof lining (Part ID 7084), radio (Part ID 9124) or PCM with oddments tray (Part ID 9110).
1.4 Remove interior right front sill (Part ID 6805), glove compartment (Part ID 6815) and the cover below the dashboard (Part ID 7022).
1.5 Remove right front seat (Part ID 7201) and front seat base frame (Part ID 7209).
2. Installing the telephone antenna inside the rear spoiler.
2.1 Unscrew screws (A) and (C - third brake light) and remove ground plate (B).
2.2 Establish plug connection between the rear spoiler antenna lead and the telephone antenna.
2.3 Insert the telephone antenna (D) into the rear spoiler carrier and install the antenna lead (E).
2.4 Install the ground plate, position and tighten the ground lead (F) with screws (A).
2.5 Install the screw (C) for the third brake light
3. Install the rear spoiler antenna lead into the rear spoiler.
3.1 Check whether the left-hand side of the rear spoiler is equipped with a grommet or a plug
3.2 Perform the following tasks only if a grommet is installed
3.2.1 Remove the left rear spoiler grommet (A).
3.2.2 Pull the cover (B) from the grommet and insert the antenna lead (C) alongside the other leads.
3.2.3 Push the cover onto the grommet and install the grommet into the rear spoiler.
3.3 Perform the following tasks only if a plug is installed:
3.3.1 Remove the left-hand side plug from the rear spoiler.
3.3.2 Pull the cover from the new rear spoiler grommet and insert the antenna lead.
3.3.3 Push the cover onto the grommet and install the grommet into the rear spoiler.
3.4 Insert the antenna lead into the rear spoiler and fasten it.
4. Route the rear spoiler antenna lead into the passenger compartment
4.1 Preparatory work.
4.1.1 Open the rear lid, unclip left hinge cover (A) and open the wiring duct (B) (Technical Manual, Group 7, Part ID 7091).
4.1.2 Unclip and disconnect the GPS antenna lead plug (A) and the antenna diversity plug (B) from the connecting point.
4.1.3 Remove and open the plug holder (C) from the vehicle roof to expose the leads.
4.2 Check whether the left-hand side roof member is equipped with a grommet or a plug.
4.3 Perform the following tasks only if a grommet is installed:
4.3.1 Pull the grommet (D) towards the outside and out of the roof member together with the leads.
4.3.2 Expose the grommet (A) and push it downwards.
4.3.3 Disassemble the plug housing of the rear spoiler antenna lead as follows:
Pull the secondary locking (A) out of the plug housing (B) and pull the plug housing off the antenna lead (C).
4.3.4 Pull the antenna lead through the roof member grommet (Figure 007, Item A) together with the existing wiring.
4.3.5 Attach the plug housing to the rear spoiler antenna lead.
Note:
Ensure that the locking element is firmly attached
4.4 Perform the following tasks only If a plug Is installed:
4.4.1 Full the left plug towards the outside and out of the roof member.
4.4.2 Route the rear spoiler antenna lead through the new roof member grommet together with the plug.
Note:
Observe the grommets direction of Installation (also see Figure 009). Remove the plug from the spoiler antenna lead according to Point 4.3.3 or attach the plug according to Point 4.3.5, if necessary.
4.5 Attach grommet (A) to the wiring with insulation tape.
Note:
Check dimension (X) for the correct positioning of the grommet approx. 61 cm.
Important:
Ensure that the cable bushing is air and water tight! Seal the wiring and the grommet with adhesive compound if necessary!
4.6 Route the wiring through the wiring duct of the hinge (cover and close the wiring duct.
4.7 Starting from the rear hatch hinge. route the wiring along the roof member through the plug holder to the connecting point (also see Figure 006).
4.8 Insert the grommet into the installation opening in the roof member.
Note:
If necessary. coat the rubber grommet with lubricant for easier installation.
4.9 Close the plug holder and install it into the roof member.
4.10 Connect the GPS antenna lead and the antenna diversity and clip into the connecting point.
4.11 Clip in the left hinge cover.
5. Routing the antenna lead through interior.
5.1 Undo and lift the carpet lining (A).
5.2 Open wiring duct (B).
5.3 Establish the plug connection between rear spoiler antenna lead and the passenger compartment and clip into connection point (A).
5.4 Route the passenger compartment antenna lead into any existing wiring ducts and fasten it as follows:
- Connecting point -> roof member -> right A-pillar;
- right A-pillar -> right side member;
- right side member -> right seat baseframe (B).
6. Prepare electrical wiring harness.
6.1 Bundle the electrical wiring harness leads as shown.

6.2 Bundle the leads BN; 0,5 sq. and BK; 0,5 sq. and crimp them with an A6-1 cable lug.
7. Installing electrical wiring harness.
7.1 Route and secure the electrical wiring harness as follows;
- right seat baseframe (B) > wiring duct;
- wiring duct -> right A-pillar;
- A-pillar -> under instrument panel bracket
- instrument pane) bracket > radio/PCM installation slot (F);
- radio/PCM installation slot -> instrument panel;
- instrument panel -> left A-pillar top;
- left roof pillar top -> roof console.
Important:
The lead positioning and fixing near the steering column/pedal block and the passenger airbag must be carried out with great care.

8. Remove the fuse carrier from right-hand side of the dashboard.
8.1 Unlock the locking lugs on both sides and remove rear fuse carrier covering.
8.2 Pull locking pin (A) from fuse carrier.
9. Establish power supply F49/terminal 15.
9.1 Remove "F49" from the fuse carrier.
9.2 Only for vehicles with anti-dazzle mirrors (PD1 or PD2):
9.2.1 Press out and detach the pin of wire BK/GN; 0.35 sq. with 88040 (A).
9.2.2 Bundle the wire BK/GN; 0.5 sq. from the retrofit kit together with the wire BK/GN; 0.35 sq. (on vehicle side) and crimp with new pin (B).
9.3 Only for vehicles without the anti-dazzle mirrors (PD1 or PD2): the wire BK/GN 0.5 sq. from the retrofit kit with new pin.
9.4 Fit the pin into the fuse carrier.
Note:
Ensure that pin is installed securely.
9.5 Push locking pin into the fuse carrier.
9.6 Plug fuse "F49" into the plug-in slot.
10. Establish power supply F4/terminal 30.
10.1 Pull locking pin from fuse carrier.
10.2 Crimp the wire RD/BK 0.5 sq. from the retrofit kit with new pin.
10.3 Install the pin into the fuse carrier.
Note:
Ensure that pin is installed securely.
10.4 Push locking pin into the fuse carrier.
10.5 Plug fuse "F4" into the plug-in slot.
10.6 Mount rear fuse carrier covering and install fuse carrier on the right-hand side of the dashboard.
10.7 Fix the ground leads' cable lug A6-1 to the ground pin "MB 26" (under seat frame).
10.8 Connect terminal A3' (tel. mute to the black S-pale plug (radio/PCM).
10.8.1 Pull locking pin from plug housing.
10.8.2 Insert the wire YE/BK; 0.35 sq from the retrofit kit into the plug housing connection point A3'.
Note:
Ensure that pin is Installed securely.
10.8.3 Push locking pin into the plug housing
11. Only vehicles without Bose sound package.
11.1 Install the hands-free microphone into the roof console.
11.2 Unclip the switch cover (A) and remove the foamed plastic insert.
11.3 Route the wire (B) through the switch cover
11.4 Insert the hands-free microphone (C) into the switch cover and clip on switch cover.
Note:
The microphone must always he installed on the left side to avoid interference potential.
12. Complete the vehicle.
12.1 Close the cable duct and reposition the carpet lining.
12.2 Permanently affix the mobile phone antenna lead and the 18-pole B-Box mobile phone VDA plug.
12.3 Install the front seat base frame and the right front seat.
12.4 Install the interior right front sill the glove compartment and the panel below the dashboard.
12.5 Install roof lining and radio or PCM with oddments tray.
12.6 Install the rear spoiler panel.
12.7 Connect battery and install the battery cover - refer to Technical Manual.
12.8 Re-program radio/PCM to hands-free mode. See operating instructions CDR23/PCM "Telephone mute behavior".
13. After programming is complete, read out the fault memory of all systems, correct any existing faults, and erase the fault memory.
