Roof Strip Installation Instructions

Four plastic roof strips can be affixed in seams on the vehicle roof (Figure 001). This creates visual differentiation from the standard vehicle roof. The color of the roof strips is satin aluminium and can also be retrofitted in combination with the roof railing (I No 3S7).

Currently, when ordering a new vehicle the roof strips can only be ordered in combination with the roof railing I-No. 3S1.

The vehicle must not be washed or waxed for 24 hours after adhering the roof strips.

Please inform the customer of this information accordingly.

Observe manufacturer-specific processing regulations for adhesive.

Copies of the template must be made to correctly position the roof strips. When copies are printed, the measurements of the template must be checked to verily correct printer scaling before affixing it to cardboard. If necessary, the template must be printed again with a modified printer setting.

The description of the subsequent mounting refers to one roof strip. The remaining roof strips should be mounted in the same manner.

Work Procedure:

1. Preparatory work.





1.1 Print out template (see enclosure) and check dimensions. Glue the template onto corrugated cardboard and cut it out.

1.2 Clean the vehicle roof with isopropyl alcohol or acetone in the bonding area (A) of the roof strips as well as with a cleaning cloth to be free of dust and grease.

Note:
Afterwards do not touch the bonding surface.





2. Fitting the roof strip.

Information for adhesive bonding:

- The ambient and trim temperature must be at least 18°C;

- Vehicle must not be washed or waxed for 24 hours after sticking on the roof strip.

Important:
The roof strip is labeled on the underside with an arrow which must point in the direction of travel when fitting.





2.1 Apply the roof strip (A) using the template (B) in a seam on the vehicle roof.

2.2 Align the template and the roof strip with the roof end (C) and seam.

2.3 Affix the template (B) to the vehicle roof with adhesive tape.





2.4 Lift the roof Strip (A) and remove the backing film.

2.5 Fit roof Strip (A) in the rear of the template (B).

2.6 Affix the roof strip from the rear towards the front in the seam on the vehicle roof and press lightly.





2.7 Press roof strip (A) on firmly and uniformly with a rubber roller.

2.8 Loosen the adhesive tape of the template and remove the template (B) from the roof.

Note:
Since the template will be used for affixing the remaining roof strips, make sure that it is not damaged when removing the adhesive tape.

2.9 Check the gap of the roof strip against the vehicle roof and if necessary, press on the roof strip again with the rubber roller.

3. The remaining 3 roof strips are affixed in the same manner.

Template - Make copies as necessary. When making copies make sure that they are output (printed at 100 % scaling. Verify the measurements on copied template.
