Removing And Installing Kessy/Immobilizer Control Unit
NOTE:
- If the Kessy control unit is replaced, it must be programmed using the Porsche System Tester. This is to adapt the control unit to the vehicle, country version and equipment.
- If possible, before the control unit is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained from the Porsche System Tester.

- Follow the instructions for the Porsche System Tester.
Obtaining Read-out And Saving Vehicle Data From Control Unit
NOTE: In order to guarantee the function of the control unit after teaching, the coding value in the old control unit must be read out or be determined again. This value must be written into the new control unit after teaching.
1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch ignition on Press [>>] to continue.
2. Select vehicle type using the cursor keys.
3. Using the [->|] key, move from the vehicle type to the list of control units.
4. Select Kessy/immobilizer control unit with the cursor keys and press the [>>] key.
5. Select "Control unit replacement with the cursor keys and press the [>>] key.
6. Select "Read-out values (vehicle data)" with the cursor keys and press the [>>] key.
7. The note "Coding read complete" will appear on the screen of the Porsche System Tester.
8. After replacement of the Kessy/immobilizer control unit, the read data is installed in the menu "Teaching Kessy/immobilizer".
Removing Kessy/immobilizer Control Unit
Remove cover under instrument panel on left.
NOTE: The control unit is located beside the hot air unit.
1. Press apart both locking tabs "A". Pull control unit to the right and downward "B".
2. Press connector "A" and pull out. Open lock "B" on plug "C" and remove plug.
3. Remove the control unit.
Installing Kessy/immobilizer Control Unit
1. Push on plug "C" and lock "B".
2. Insert the connector "A" until it can be felt to engage.
3. Insert control unit into the upper mounting point "B" and engage in holder "A".
Install cover under left instrument panel.
Programming New Kessy/immobilizer Control Unit
NOTE:
- All original keys are required for teaching.
- If a new Kessy control unit is to be installed in a vehicle, the immobilizer code specified in IPAS must be entered.
- You can get the codes from IPAS or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.
- During programming, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System Tester. It is essential to connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A to the vehicle battery.
- Symbol for the TAB key = [->|].
- The Porsche System Tester instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. A discrepancy may arise with later software versions (from 16.0).
- The procedure described here has been structured generally, different text or additions may appear in the Porsche System Tester.
- In order to guarantee the function of the control unit after teaching, the coding value in the old control unit must be read out or be determined again. This value must be written into the new control unit after teaching.
1. Ignition off.
2. Replace control unit.
3. Ignition remains off, connect the Porsche System Tester (PST) to the vehicle and start the System Tester.
4. Select Special functions using the cursor keys.
5. Select Kessy Cayenne using the cursor keys.
NOTE: The brake pedal must be pushed during the control unit search. The reason for this is that the CAN remains active. If the brake pedal is not pressed, the Kessy control unit is not recognized.
6. In the instrument cluster, the note System learned appears.
7. Change to the Special functions menu and to Kessy Cayenne.
8. In the menu Replace control unit select Teach Kessy/immobilizer, continue with [>>].
NOTE: Follow the Tester instructions.
9. Insert key [>>].
10. Enter new immobilizer code [>>], and confirm with [F7] key.
11. The version is displayed. If the data could not be read out when replacing the control unit, Refer to "Obtaining read-out and saving vehicle data from control unit" - then select the version and code with [F8].
12. Teaching Kessy [>>].
13. Teach key [>>]. The number of keys to be taught must be specified.
NOTE: All keys existing for this vehicle must be indicated here.
14. Tester instructions follow.
15. Read out the fault memory for all faulty control units, erase fault memory.
NOTE: Before the engine can be started, 5 minutes must be waited, only once.
16. Start engine with all keys, one after the other.
Replacing Kessy/Immobilizer Control Unit
NOTE:
- If the Kessy control unit from a different vehicle is being used, proceed as follows. As a check, the immobilizer code of the vehicle in which the control unit is being installed (NEW) and of the vehicle from which the control unit has been removed (OLD) are required.
- The required codes come with the vehicle identification number from the IPAS or from your importer.
- During DME programming, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System Tester. It is essential to connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A to the vehicle battery.
