Work Procedure

1. Preparatory work.

1.1 Remove battery cover and disconnect battery.

1.2 Remove front door trim panel, fuse box cover and door entry guard - see Technical Manual.

1.3 Unscrew the two front-most screws from the door entry trim and remove the bottom trim of the left A-pillar.

2. Installing wiring.





2.1 Lift the door entry trim and carefully drill a hole in the front-most opening using a 6-mm drill bit (A).

Note:
Do not damage adjacent components. Arrows in Figures 3 and 4 show the direction of travel.





2.2 Position inverter (A) in the second last opening of the door entry trim and affix using adhesive tape/adhesive compound.

2.2.1 Route inverter wiring set in the door entry trim through the bore to the bottom A-pillar and fix into position.





2.3 Unclip rubber boot (A) from the A-pillar on body side.

2.3.1 Disconnect plugs "1AL, 2AL and 3AL" (B) on the A-pillar.

2.3.2 Release connector Strip (C) on the A-pillar and expose it.

2.3.3 Detach insulating mat from A-pillar.





2.3.4 Route inverter wiring set (A) from the bottom A-pillar behind the insulating mat to the opening (arrow) and fix into position.

Note:
Only route the wire BR 0.752 up to ground point "GP21".

2.3.5 Crimp cable lug A6-1 (ring eyelet) to the wire BR 0.752 of the inverter wiring set.

2.3.6 Screw cable lug A6-1 (ring eyelet) to ground point "GP21" (B).





2.3.7 Release locking lug (A) on the connector strip and remove middle 21-pin connector housing "2AL" (B).

2.3.8 Press locking lugs (C) and remove pin lock from connector housing.

2.3.9 Insert pin of wire RE 0.752 of inverter wiring set into the connector housing "2AL, terminal 21" (D). Note: Ensure that pin is fitted securely.

2.3.10 Fit pin lock.

2.3.11 Clip middle connector housing "2AL" into the connector strip.

2.3.12 Clip connector strip into A-pillar.

2.4 Remove fastening frame (A) from the rubber boot "c door side".





2.4.1 Remove protective hose (B) from the door.





2.4.2 Route wire from door plug TRKP2" (A) through the protective hose to the door control module (B) and fix into place.

Note:
Observe direction of installation of wire.





2.4.3 Disassemble 21-pin door plug "TRKP2".

2.4.4 Release locking lug (A) and pull plug carrier (B) out of the connector housing.





2.4.5 Insert pin of wire RE 0.752 into the connector housing "TRKP2; terminal 21" (A).

Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.

2.4.6 Fit plug carrier to connector housing.





2.5 Pull 12-pin plug "C" off door control module.

2.5.1 Disassemble plug C.

2.5.2 Press connector housing apart (arrows) and pull plug carrier out of connector housing.

2.5.3 Release pin of "terminal 4" and remove it.





2.5.4 Insert pin of wire RE 0.752 into the plug carrier "C; terminal 4" (A).

Note:
Ensure that pin is fitted securely.

2.5.5 Fit plug carrier into connector housing.

2.5.6 Connect plug "C" to door control module.

2.5.7 Install protective hose in door.

2.5.8 Fit fastening frame into the rubber boot.

2.5.9 Connect plugs "1AL, 2AL and 3AL" to the A-pillar.

2.5.10 Clip rubber boot onto A-pillar.

3. Fit door entry guard.

3.1 Install lower trim of left A-pillar.





3.2 Position door entry trim (A) and tighten with screws.

3.3 Fit door entry guard (B) and connect plug (C) to inverter wiring set.

3.4 Clip door entry guard into the door entry trim. Note: Observe cable routing.

4. Complete the vehicle.

4.1 Install fuse box cover and front door trim.

4.2 Connect battery and install battery cover - see Technical Manual.

5. Only for vehicles without door area lighting:

5.1 Activate stainless-steel door entry guard with the PST2.

5.1.1 Connect the PST2, switch on the ignition and select "Cayenne" as the vehicle type.

5.1.2 Read out all control modules, correct any faults and erase fault memory.

5.1.3 Select "Rear/doors" in the menu.

5.1.4 Then select "Coding".-> The coding is read out.

5.1.5 Select "Door warning light/door entry light Off" in the menu.

5.1.6 Switch to the menu item "Door warning light/door entry light On" and code using "F8".

5.1.7 The new coding is displayed in the higher level menu item.

5.1.8 After programming is complete, read out the fault memory of all systems, correct any existing faults, and erase the fault memory.

6. Only for vehicles with door area lighting.

6.1 Read out the fault memory of all systems, correct any existing faults, and erase the fault memory.

7. Carry out function test.

7.1 Close all doors and lock the vehicle.

7.2 Unlock the vehicle and open both doors.

7.3 Both door entry guards must light up for approx. 10 minutes.
