Installing and Removing Heat Exchanger
Removing Heat Exchanger
- Remove cover under the instrument panel on the left and right.
- Remove glove compartment.
- Drain motor coolant.
- Unclip cover for instrument panel on the left and right.
- Remove front footwell outlet nozzle on the left and right.
- Remove control unit for Kessy or remove control unit for immobilizer.
- Remove network control unit.
- Remove relay carrier. Remove holder from relay carrier.
1. Unscrew the two fastening screws from the left heat exchanger cover and unclip cover.
2. Unscrew the fastening screws from the right heat exchanger cover and unclip cover.
3. Pull down the retaining clips -A- on the flow side and return side line of the coolant.
4. Remove the interior carpet from the coolant lines and install an appropriate collecting basin.
NOTE: Fit the driver's footwell with highly absorbent material.
5. -B- Slowly withdraw lines from the heat exchanger and allow coolant to run into the collecting basin.
6. Twist locking pin out of the latch -1- and pull out -2-.
NOTE:
- This locking pin, which connects the lower retainer basin (containing the heat exchanger) with the air conditioning box, is located on the left side underneath the heat exchanger.
- As soon as the locking pin is removed, the heat exchanger can be folded down with the retainer basin.
7. Fold retainer basin down with heat exchanger.
8. Carefully pull the heat exchanger out to the left.
Installing Heat Exchanger
1. Carefully insert heat exchanger into the retainer basin. Make sure that the vanes on the heat exchanger are not damaged by the retainer webs in the retainer basin.
2. Lift retainer basin upwards, push the retainer stud through the guide -2- and lock the retainer stud in the retainer basin -1-.
3. Introduce coolant on flow side and return side line -B- in the heat exchanger.
NOTE: Make sure that the O-rings are not damaged. Replace if in doubt.
4. Push in retaining clips -A- until the clips engage.
- Install relay carrier. Install holder in relay carrier.
- Install network control unit.
- Install control unit for Kessy or remove control unit for immobilizer.
- Fill motor coolant.
- Install front footwell outlet nozzle on the left and right.
5. Check heating system for leaks.
6. Clip on right cover and tighten with the fastening screws. Refer to tightening torques.
7. Clip on left cover and tighten with the fastening screws.
- Clip on cover for instrument panel on the left and right.
- Install glove compartment.
- Install cover under the instrument panel on the left and right.
