Installing bracket for oil-water heat exchanger

Note: The illustrations are taken from the Cayenne Turbo (M48150).

Installing bracket for oil-water heat exchanger
1. Replace both O-rings in the flange. To do this, lever out the O-rings carefully with a non-abrasive object (plastic wedge) and replace them with new ones.
2. Replace the O-rings on the oil discharge flange. To do this, lever off the O-rings carefully with a non-abrasive object (plastic wedge) and replace them with new ones.

Caution: Risk of damage!
^ If the compensating element has not been screwed in, the bracket can be braced and break during operation.
^ Screw the compensating element in completely before fitting the bracket.

3. Screw in longitudinal compensating element. To do this, insert an Allen key through the screw hole in the bracket and turn the key in an anti-clockwise direction until the compensating element is positioned on the bracket.
4. Coat the two discharge flanges lightly with engine oil and position the bracket on the engine. Press the bracket firmly against the engine until the fastening screws can be positioned.

5. The sleeve -1- is screwed in. Position the three fastening screws and tighten them hand-tight.

6. Adjust compensating element. To do this, insert an Allen key through the screw hole in the bracket and turn the key in a clockwise direction until the compensating element is positioned on the engine. Tightening torque: 2 to 5 Nm (1.5 - 3.5 ft. lbs.).

7. Fit upper fastening screw. Insert the screw through the compensating element and tighten to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Tighten the three remaining fastening screws to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).

8. Fit coolant lines on the oil-water heat exchanger. Push the two coolant lines onto the socket piece and fit the spring band clamps with the spring band clamp pliers.

Note: The following step must only be performed for the M48150 (V8 Turbo) engine.

9. Fit turbocharger oil return lines. Press the lines into the connections and align them. Screw in the union nuts by hand and tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
10. Fasten lock mount.

11. Fit the sheetmetal brace under the radiator. To do so, tighten the four fastening screws to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).

12. Tighten the front apron on the underside.

13. Install underside panel.

14. Fill and bleed the cooling circuit.
15. Check oil level and adjust it.
