Removal and installation

Caution: Danger of scalding!
^ Engine oil and components of the oil circuit can become very hot!
^ Avoid contact with skin and eyes!
^ Wear suitable protective clothing!
^ The relevant instructions must be observed.


Note:
^ The oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:
^ Oil is diluted
^ Oil pump is faulty
^ Bearing clearance is too large (e.g. crankshaft bearing)
^ Oil level is too low
^ Oil pressure regulating valve is faulty
^ Incorrect oil has been used - use only oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement

Note: The oil pressure switch is located on the oil filter bracket to the left under the generator.





1. Remove front engine guard.





2. Pull off the plug on the oil pressure sensor. To do this, press on the button.

Caution: Danger of scalding!
^ Engine oil and components of the oil circuit can become very hot!
^ Avoid contact with skin and eyes!
^ Wear suitable protective clothing!


Note: When the oil pressure switch is unscrewed, approximately 0.3 L of engine oil escapes.





3. Loosen the oil pressure switch and unscrew it. Collect the emerging oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws.





4. Install oil temperature switch with new sealing ring.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).





5. Push electric plug onto oil pressure switch. The plug must engage audibly.





6. Install front engine guard.
7. Check oil level and correct if necessary.
