Removing and Installing Auxiliary Air-Conditioning Unit
NOTE: For vehicles with four-zone air conditioning (2+2), the auxiliary air-conditioning unit is located behind the left rear side section cover for the auxiliary air-conditioning unit.
Removing And Installing Auxiliary Air-Conditioning Unit
- Remove refrigerant by suction.
- Drain engine coolant.
- Remove the side lining at rear.
- Remove rear left wheel.
- Remove rear left wheel housing liner.
1. Press together the spring-band clamps -1- for the fastening clamps with the spring band clamp pliers and pull off the coolant hoses -C- from the spacer -D-. Refer to, Tools.
2. Unscrew the fastening screws -2- for the refrigerant lines, remove the refrigerant lines -A- and -B-, and close with plugs.
3. Undo the fastening screws -3-.
4. Press together the air duct from above and pull out of the air-conditioning unit.
5. Press release on electrical plug -A- -a- and pull out the plug -A- and -B-.
6. Unscrew the three fastening screws -4-, lift up auxiliary air-conditioning unit.
7. Raise auxiliary air-conditioning unit and pull off water drainage.
8. First pull auxiliary air-conditioning unit inward -arrow- and pull out with the coolant hoses.
Removing And Installing Auxiliary Air-Conditioning Unit
1. Slide the coolant hoses through the wheel well opening and place the auxiliary air-conditioning unit from the inside -arrow- onto the wheel well.
2. Hold auxiliary air-conditioning unit and connect water drainage. Ensure that the water drainage remains connected to the drain when fitting the auxiliary air-conditioning unit.
3. Screw in and tighten the three fastening screws -4-. Refer to tightening torques.
4. Press in the electric plugs -A- and -B- until they click into place.
5. Push the air duct into the auxiliary air-conditioning unit until the air duct engages.
6. Screw in and tighten both fastening screws -3-. Refer to tightening torques.
7. Remove the plugs for the refrigerant lines -A- and -B-, check the O-rings of the refrigerant lines and if in doubt, replace.
8. Spray the O-rings with refrigerant oil, slide in wires and tighten using both fastening screws -2-. Refer to tightening torques.
9. Slide on the coolant hoses -C- onto the coolant lines and secure with the spring-band clamps -1-. Refer to, Tools.
10. Insert the coolant hoses into the spacer -D-.
- Fill refrigerant.
- Top up engine coolant.
- Mount the side lining at rear.
- Install rear left wheel.
- Install rear left wheel housing liner.
