Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair



Removing and Installing Pressure Switch







NOTE: The pressure switch is located in the radiator tank in the direction of travel under the cowl panel cover.

Removing Pressure Switch
- Remove wiper link.
- Remove cowl panel cover.
- Observe safety regulations. Refer to, Safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and dealing with refrigerant R134a.
- Drain refrigerant.







1. Press release on electrical plug -a- and disconnect from pressure switch.







2. Place one open-ended wrench on the hexagon of the pressure switch and a second open-ended wrench on the hexagon of the refrigerant line.
3. Unscrew pressure switch from refrigerant line in direction of arrow and remove.

Installing Pressure Switch
- Replace O-ring on pressure switch and wet with refrigerant oil.







1. Screw pressure switch onto refrigerant line and tighten with an open-ended wrench. Counter with a second open-ended wrench. Tightening torque 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.).







2. Push electrical plug onto pressure switch until it is felt to engage.

- Fill in refrigerant.
- Install cowl panel cover.
- Install wiper link.
