Adjusting multi-function switch
1. Move selector lever to position N.
2. Remove engine guard.

Note: To unscrew the cardan shaft bolts, a second fitter should sit in the vehicle and block the drive harness by activating the footbrake.





3. Unscrew cardan shaft bolts to the front on the transfer box.

Caution: Screw threads used to fasten transmission cross members on holder can pull out.
^ Follow the sequence for the procedure.

4. Removing transmission cross members:
^ Support transmission with transmission jack and secure with fixing strap.





^ Unscrew four screws from the exhaust system on the cross member.





^ Unscrew bolts -A- on body.
^ Unscrew two transmission cross member screws -B- on transfer box holder.





5. Remove shield on the transmission. To do this, unscrew three fastening screws.
6. Pull out compact connector on multi-function switch.





7. Remove cap nut, cap, nut with tab washer and rubber washer on the multi-function switch.





8. Undo fastening screws.





9. Position special adjustment tool T10173 on the shaft and fix to the shaft with screw.





10. Screw in fastening screws.
Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.5 ft. lbs.).





11. Install cap nut, cap, nut with tab washer and rubber washer on the multi-function switch.
Nut tightening torque: 7 Nm (5 ft. lbs.)
Cap nut tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
12. Connect compact connector on multi-function switch.





Note: When installing the shield, ensure that all fastening parts are present and inserted correctly.





13. Install shield on the transmission. To do this, screw in three fastening screws.

Caution: Screw threads used to fasten transmission crossmembers on holder can pull out.
^ Follow the sequence for the procedure.

Note: Screws which are tightened with a torque angle must be replaced with new ones.

14. Installing transmission cross members:





^ Screw in two cross member screws -B-on transfer box holder.
^ Screw in bolts -A- on body.
Tightening torques -B- : 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 90° torque angle
Tightening torques -A- : 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 90° torque angle





15. Screw in four screws from the exhaust system on the cross member.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)

Note:
^ To tighten the cardan shaft bolts, a second fitter should sit in the vehicle and block the drive harness by activating the brake.
^ Screws which are tightened with a torque angle must be replaced with new ones.





16. Screw in cardan shaft bolts to the front on the transfer box.
Tightening torques: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) + 90° torque angle
17. Install engine guard.
18. Functional test of gear selecting system:
^ Will the vehicle start?
^ Do all the selector lever positions work?

Tightening torques





Note: Screws which are tightened with a torque angle must be replaced with new ones.
