Installing Starter Catalyst on Cylinder Bank 1 - 4



Removing And Installing Starter Catalyst







CAUTION:
Danger of burns.
- Exhaust system can be very hot.
- Only remove the exhaust system when it has cooled down.
- Wear protective gloves.

Installing starter catalyst on cylinder bank 1 - 4 - Cayenne S (M48/00)

NOTE:
- Observe the most important working regulations and warning notes.
- Metal seals and self-locking nuts or screws must always be replaced.

1. Ensure that the sealing surfaces of the exhaust system are clean.
2. Replace flange seal and push it over the studs of the starter catalyst.
3. Move starter catalyst to the installation position.
4. Position the fastening screw on the catalytic converter holder through the wheel well.
5. Position three new fastening nuts between the exhaust manifold and starter catalyst.







6. Fit fastening screw on the catalytic converter holder and fit nuts with a tightening torque of 23 Nm (17 ftlb.).

CAUTION: Lay the oxygen sensor cable so that it isn't in contact with the exhaust manifold.

7. Lay the cable for the oxygen sensor in an upward direction so that it cannot come into contact with the exhaust system, and clip it in.
8. Install main catalytic converter.
9. Install air cleaner housing.
10. Install front wheel housing liner.
11. Fit wheel with a tightening torque of 160 Nm (118 ftlb.).
12. Insert the oxygen sensor plug for the oxygen sensor behind the catalytic converter to the right on the water splash panel.







13. Fit engine compartment cover over the oxygen sensor.
