Removing Wiring Harness For Backrest
CAUTION:
- Danger of injury and damage to property as a result of incorrect handling of airbag units.
- Always observe the safety regulations for handling airbag units. Refer to Safety regulations for handling airbag and belt tensioner units.
- The airbag unit must always be deposited so that the airbag opening faces upwards.
- If removed for an extended period, the airbag unit must be kept in a locked place.
- Remove ignition key. Disconnect the battery and cover battery terminal.
- After the battery is disconnected, always wait for 1 minute before disconnecting the airbag plugs.
1. Remove front seat.
2. Remove front backrest frame.
3. Remove lumbar support.
4. Release the plugs on the height "1" and cambering positioning motor "2" of the lumbar support "arrow A" and disconnect "arrow B".
NOTE: Disconnect the plug axially only from the backrest positioning motor. Otherwise the retaining lugs can break off and a secure plug lock cannot be guaranteed.
5. Pull off plug on backrest positioning motor "arrow C".
6. Unclip wiring harness using a release lever removal tool, universal 21, "arrows".
7. Push the inner edge of the protective cover inwards "arrow A" and pull out the protective cover in a downward direction "arrow B".
8. Disconnect tie-wrap "C" and remove protective cover.
9. Remove wiring in upward direction "arrow B". Make sure that the two plugs are not damaged.
Installing Wiring For Backrest
1. Guide side airbag wiring harness through the backrest frame "arrow A". Make sure that the two plugs are not damaged when you do this.
2. Clip wiring harness onto the backrest frame "arrow B".
NOTE: Ensure that the tie-wrap is installed correctly as it can impact on the backrest frame and hinder installation of the protective cover.
3. Fit protective cover on wiring harness and fasten it with a commercially available tie-wrap "A". Push protective cover upwards "arrow B" and secure it to the backrest frame.
4. Press the plug onto the backrest positioning motor "arrow A" until the plug engages audibly.
5. Insert the plugs on the height "1" and cambering positioning motor "2" of the lumbar support "arrow B" until the locks engage audibly "arrow C".
6. Install lumbar support.
7. Remove front backrest frame.
8. Remove front seat.
