Removing Wiring For Electrically Adjustable Seat

CAUTION:
- Danger of injury and damage to property as a result of incorrect handling of airbag units.
- Always observe the safety regulations for handling airbag units. Refer to Safety regulations for handling airbag and belt tensioner units.
- The airbag unit must always be deposited so that the airbag opening faces upwards.
- If removed for an extended period, the airbag unit must be kept in a locked place.
- Remove ignition key. Disconnect the battery and cover battery terminal. Refer to Battery.
- After the battery is disconnected, always wait for 1 minute before disconnecting the airbag plugs.

1. Remove front seat.







2. Remove the plastic strip of the backrest covering on the right-hand side "arrow A".
3. Lever out the footwell light from the holder using a commercially available screwdriver "arrow B" and take it out of the holder "arrow B".
4. Press together plug lock "arrows D" and pull off the footwell light from the plug "arrow E".







5. Push back locking mechanism of airbag plug "arrow A" and remove plug "arrow B".
6. Release airbag plug on the seat frame "C" and push it out towards the front "arrow D".







7. Release ground plug "1" and central plug "2" to the backrest "arrows A" and disconnect both plugs "arrows B".







8. Release the two plugs "arrows A" and pull them off the seat adjuster switch "arrows B".







9. Press together the locking tabs of the clip "arrows A" and pull out the plug, together with the clip, in a downward direction "arrow B".
10. Press the locking tab to the side "arrow C" and remove the plug from the clip "arrow D".

NOTE: If necessary for reasons of space, remove the belt lock plug beforehand.







11. Push central lock on the side in a downward direction "arrow A" until the retaining hook is released and remove the central plug in a leftward direction "arrow B".







12. Release plug "arrow A" and pull it off the seat heating control module "arrow B".

NOTE: Disconnect the plug axially only from the positioning motor. Otherwise the retaining lugs can break off and a secure plug lock cannot be guaranteed.







13. Pull off plugs on the positioning motors "arrow".







14. Push the retaining hooks on the spring core upwards "arrow A" and remove the socket housing in a sideway direction "arrow B".







15. Unclip wiring harness on the spring core using a release lever removal tool, universal 21, refer to 'Tools' "arrows".







16. Unclip wiring harness on the seat frame "arrows" and remove it.

Installing Wiring For Electrically Adjustable Seat







1. Clip the wiring harness to the inner side of the seat frame "arrows".







2. Clip wiring harness into spring core "arrows".







3. Press the socket housing into the spring core at the side "arrows" until the locking tabs engage audibly.







4. Insert ground plug of airbag "1" and central plug of backrest "2" into seat wiring harness "arrows A" until the locking tabs "B" engage audibly.







5. Clip airbag plug onto spring core "arrow A" until locking mechanism "B" engages audibly.
6. Connect airbag plug "arrow C" until locking mechanism "D" engages audibly.







7. Push plugs onto positioning motors "arrow" until these engage audibly.







8. Slide the clip onto the airbag plug "arrow A" until the lock engages audibly "arrow B".
9. Insert airbag plug into the retainer plate "arrow C" until the clip engages audibly in the retainer plate.
10. Slide central plug onto the fastening clip "arrow D" until it engages audibly in the fastening clip.
11. Insert plug in the seat heating control module "arrow E" until it clicks into the control module.







12. Push footwell light onto the cable plug "arrow A" until the locking tabs engage audibly "arrows B".







13. Attach the plastic strip of the backrest covering to the spring core "arrow".
14. Install front seat.
15. Connect the battery.
- Carry out work instruction after disconnecting the battery.
