Level Control System Calibration

Date: 2-28-03

Vehicle Type:
Cayenne S/Cayenne Turbo

Model Year:
As of '03 (3)

Equipment:
Air suspension, mci. Porsche Active Suspension Management/PASM (I No. 1BK) (air suspension with level control and height adjustment)

Concerns:
Level-control calibration with the Porsche System Tester 2 (PST2) after:

- replacement of the level control module and/or

- replacement of the vehicle level sensors.

Communication interruption and program abort during calibration with the PST2.

- Fault code 1437 in the level control fault memory.

Information:
When the level control module is calibrated with the PST2 and the current software version 15.0, the message "Communication problem with the control module" is displayed after the last height (=HR) is entered and the >>" key is pressed. Calibration can now be continued with the ">>" key or the "ESC" key.

Continue the process with the ">>" key.

1 Re-establish the connection with the ">>" key. After the key is pressed, the calibration program aborts and the message "Abort; test step condition not met" appears on the PST2 display.

1.1 Press the ">>" key. The "Function selection" menu is then shown. It is now necessary to check whether fault code 1437 "Control position not learned" is stored in the level-control fault memory.

1.2 If fault code 1437 is present, calibration must be repeated.

Information: In this case, the fault code will be automatically deleted after calibration.

1.3 If the fault code is not present, the newly entered data is stored in the control module and the calibration process is then complete.

2. If, after a communication interruption, the "ESC" key (- Abort) is pressed instead of the ">>" key, the message "Abort; test step condition not met" also appears. The same specifications as listed under point 1 then apply to the next procedure. The procedure as stated under point 1 should always be followed.

This problem has been remedied in the next PST2 software version 16.0, which will be distributed approximately mid-March '03.
