Information:
The plastic protective side moldings can be painted in body color and protect the door sides against damage and add a custom styling touch to the Cayenne.

Information:
The description of retrofitting refers to the right side of the vehicle. Proceed accordingly when fitting the left protective side moldings. The door gap dimensions must be checked and, if necessary, adjusted before beginning the work. The protective moldings are generally delivered primed.
Caution!
Damage or warping can occur on components - as a result of improper painting and drying processes.
> Observe the specifications and instructions for the painting of plastics as contained in the Paint Manual.
> During the painting and drying process, place the parts free of tension on the painting fixtures provided for this purpose.

Paint, corresponding to color code of vehicle - refer to Paint Manual Glass cleaner

Work Procedure:
1. Paint protective side mouldings - refer to Paint Manual.
2. Preparatory work.
2.1 Check and, if necessary, adjust door gap dimensions - refer to Technical Manual.
2.2 Clean doors in bonding area (A) - refer to Cayenne Owner's Manual.
3. Apply self-adhesive template on the front door.
Note:
Pay attention to designation of the templates (see label on the template)
3.1 Remove protective backing (A) from the lower edge of the template.
3.2 Position and apply the template on the dry door.
3.2.1 Position line marking (A) on the door edge (B).
3.2.2 Align the lower edge of the template (C) flush with the door trim strip (aluminium) (D).
Note:
The template is correctly applied if the check dimension "X", measured between the door edge (B) and end of the template, is 4 mm +/- 1 mm.
3.3 Fold down the template.
Note:
For improved handling of the template, the door or template can be sprayed with glass cleaner (A).
3.4 Remove protective backing from the template.
3.5 Using a spatula, stick on the template without bubbles (B).
4. Proceed accordingly for the rear door.
5. Apply the protective side molding.
5.1 Clean grease and dust off the bonding surface using a cleaning cloth. Afterwards do not touch the bonding surface.
5.2 Pay allention to allocation and installation position
Note:
An identification "L= Left" or "R= Right" is embossed on the back of the trim strips (A).
5.3 Remove the backing film from the adhesive strip of the trim strip.
5.4 Precisely position the protective side moulding with respect to the template, align it and press it into place.
5.5 Pull template off the door.
6. Proceed accordingly for the rear door.
7. After fitting, open and close the doors to check the clearance of the trim strips.
