PCM2: Start Screen Visible For A Long Time

Date: 2-28-03

Vehicle Type:
Cayenne S/Cayenne Turbo

Model Year:
As of '03 (3)

Concerns:
PCM2 - M Options M665 - M671. The logo of the start screen (Porsche crest on white background) remains visible in the display for up to 4 minutes after switching on the PCM2.

Information:
The long display of the start screen when booting the PCM2 is caused by a fault in the software. In case of complaints, the coding in the PCM2 must be changed using the Porsche System Tester 2 (PST2) and the software version 15.0 (or higher).

In certain situations, the complaint may occur again after a relatively long operating time. A definitive solution is planned for the end of February, 2003.

Work Procedure:
Changing the coding in the PCM2 using the PST2 and the software version 15.0 (or higher):

1. Connect the PST2 to the diagnostic socket; switch on the PST2 and the ignition.

2. When the PST2 is operational, select the vehicle type from the Start menu.

3. Start the Automatic control unit search and wait until the search is completed.

4. In the menu "Control units", select "PCM". Then select the menu item "PCM2 MMI".

5. In the function selection menu, select "Coding". Then select "Timeout".

6. In the displayed menu window, set the time to 2 seconds. Press key F8 to code the change.

7. Return to the Start menu with the ESC key, switch off the PST2 and disconnect from the diagnostic socket.
