Removing and installing multi-function switch
Removing multi-function switch
1. Move selector lever to position N.
2. Remove engine guard.
3. Unscrew cardan shaft bolts to the front on the transfer box.
Caution: Screw threads used to fasten transmission cross members on holder can pull out.
^ Follow the sequence for the procedure.
4. Removing transmission cross members:
^ Support transmission with transmission jack and secure with fixing strap.
^ Unscrew four screws from the exhaust system on the cross member-centre.
^ Unscrew bolts -A- on body.
^ Unscrew two transmission cross member screws -B- on transfer box holder.
5. Remove shield on the transmission. To do this, unscrew three fastening screws.
6. Pull out cable on multi-function switch.
7. Remove cap nut, cap, nut with tab washer and rubber washer on the multi-function switch.
8. Unscrew fastening screws on the multi-function switch and remove switch.
Installing multi-function switch
1. Position multi-function switch on the selector shaft.
2. Adjust multi-function switch.
3. Connect cable on multi-function switch.
Note: When installing the shield, ensure that all fastening parts are present and inserted correctly.
4. Install shield on the transmission. To do this, screw in three fastening screws.

Note: Screws which are tightened with a torque angle must be replaced with new ones.
5. Installing transmission cross members:
^ Screw in two cross member screws -B- on transfer box holder.
^ Screw in bolts -A- on body.
Tightening torques -B- : 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 90° torque angle
Tightening torques -A- : 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) + 90° torque angle
6. Screw in four screws from the exhaust system on the cross member-centre.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.)
Note: Screws which are tightened with a torque angle must be replaced with new ones.
7. Fix cardan shaft with new screws to the transfer box.
Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.) + 90° torque angle
8. Install engine guard.
9. Functional test of gear selecting system:
^ Will the vehicle start?
^ Do all the selector lever positions work?
