Removing selector lever cable
1. Move selector lever to position D.
2. Remove selector knob.
3. Remove selector supports.
4. Remove engine guard.
5. Remove shield on the transmission. To do this, unscrew the three fastening screws.
6. Remove tab washer -A- on the cable.
7. Unscrew selector lever cable from the ball head with removal tool, universal 21.
Note:
^ When a new selector lever cable is used, this should be connected directly to the old cable when it is removed. This ensures that it is routed correctly.
8. Pull selector lever cable up and out through the lower part of the selector support.
Installing selector lever cable
Note:
^ When a new selector lever cable is used, this should be connected directly to the old cable when removing. This ensures that it is routed correctly.
1. Install selector lever cable through the lower part of the selector support.
2. Press rubber sleeve on the selector lever cable into the lower part of the selector support.
3. Attach tab washer -A- to the cable holder on the transmission side.
4. Attach cable to the ball head.
Note:
^ The cable adjustment must be changed when a new selector lever cable is used.
Removing and installing cable adjustment
^ Remove pins and take out cable adjustment.
^ Insert new cable adjustment on the selector support and install pins.
^ When doing so, ensure that the opening for the adjusting screw is turned upwards.
Note:
^ Ensure that the tab washer is seated correctly.
5. Push selector lever cable onto the cable adjustment. Position screw and install tab washer.
6. Adjust selector lever cable.
7. Install selector supports.
8. Install selector knob.
9. Functional test of gear selecting system:
^ Will the vehicle start?
^ Do all the selector lever positions work?
10. Install shield on the transmission. To do this, screw in the three fastening screws.
11. Install engine guard.
