Torque Converter: Service and Repair

Removing and installing torque converter





Note: The transmission should be positioned horizontally in order to remove and install the converter.





Tools

Removing torque converter
1. Remove Tiptronic gears.

Note:
^ ATF can leak out when removing the torque converter.

2. Remove torque converter from the transmission shaft.

Installing torque converter
1. Clean leaking oil from converter bell housing.





Note:
^ The converter is positioned correctly when the special tool fixing pin 9595 can be inserted through the bore in the converter bell housing -inset- in front of the converter.

2. Carefully push torque converter as far as it will go on the transmission shaft.
3. Install Tiptronic transmission.
4. Check ATF.
