Removing and installing sealing ring for rear transfer box (output flange)











Preliminary work for sealing ring for transfer box

1. Remove rear cardan shaft.

1. Remove nut of output flange with special tool socket T10204. To do this, secure with special tool arm bracket 3435.

2. Remove round seal on output flange.

3. Remove flange with shop made tool and striker vw 771/1.

Caution:
Leakage due to scores on the sealing face.

- When removing the sealing ring, place the tip of the hook on the sealing ring only and not on the sealing face.

4. Remove sealing ring with special tool hook VW 681.

Installing sealing ring for rear transfer box (output flange)

1. Drive in new sealing ring with special tool pressure piece T10185 until the special tool touches the transmission housing.

2. Install output flange and, if necessary, drive in with a plastic hammer.

Information:
- Ensure that the round seal is inserted.





Rubber ring for rear output drive

- Replace nut on output flange.

- Fit nut using screw locking device.

3. Screw in output flange nut using special tool socket T10204. To do this, counter the flange with special tool arm bracket 3435. - Tightening torque: 100 ftlb.

4. Caulk nuts at the recesses in the output shaft.

Subsequent work for sealing ring for transfer box

1. Install cardan shaft.
