Installing Starter Catalyst on Cylinder Bank 1 - 4



Removing And Installing Starter Catalyst







CAUTION:
Danger of burns.
- Exhaust system can be very hot.
- Only remove the exhaust system when it has cooled down.
- Wear protective gloves.

Installing starter catalyst on cylinder bank 1 - 4 - Cayenne Turbo (M48/50)

NOTE:
- Observe the most important working regulations and warning notes.
- Metal seals and self-locking nuts or screws must always be replaced.
- Ensure that the sealing surfaces of the exhaust system are clean.

1. Replace flange seal and push it over the studs.
2. Position starter catalyst on the studs of the turbocharger.







3. Position hexagon head bolt of the side catalytic converter holder.
4. Position new, self-locking nuts on the connection points of the catalytic converter and tighten to a tightening torque of 23 Nm (17 ftlb).
5. Tighten hexagon-head bolt of the side catalytic converter to a tightening torque of 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) -arrow-.







CAUTION:
- Always expose oxygen sensor cable so that the cable can turn when unscrewing or screwing in the sensor.
- Do not kink cable.

6. Lay oxygen sensor cable in an upward direction so that the oxygen sensor cable does not touch the exhaust manifold or the exhaust system and clip it in.
7. Install main catalytic converter.
8. Connect two oxygen sensor plugs on the water splash panel and clip the cables into the holders.







9. Fit engine compartment cover over the oxygen sensor.
10. Fit wheel with a tightening torque of 160 Nm (118 ftlb.).
