Preliminary work

Removing control unit for tire pressure monitoring system

Note:
^ The control unit for the tire pressure monitoring system is located below the dashboard, near the mounting saddle for the foot-operated parking brake.





^ If possible, before the control unit is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained from the Porsche System Tester.





1. Unscrew and remove both expanding rivets.
2. Unlock connector lock, unplug plug connection and remove control unit.

Installing control unit for tire pressure monitoring system





1. Push plug connection onto the control unit and lock plug.
2. Position control unit and secure with the two expanding rivets.

Subsequent work

Install cover under dashboard on left.

Replacing control units for tire pressure monitoring system (RDK)

Note:
^ If the control unit for the tire pressure monitoring system is replaced, it must be programmed using the Porsche System Tester. This will ensure that the control unit is taught for the relevant vehicle, country version and equipment.
^ During coding, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System Tester. It is essential to connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A to the vehicle battery.
^ The Porsche System Tester instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions.
^ The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different texts or additions may appear in the Porsche System Tester.

1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on the ignition. >> Continue.
2. Select vehicle type using the cursor keys.
3. Using the -->| key, move from the vehicle type to the control units.
4. Select RDK with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
5. Select Control unit replacement with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
6. Select Read out values (codings) with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
7. The message Coding read-out complete will appear on the screen of the Porsche System Tester >>.
8. Switch off ignition and replace RDK control unit.
9. After replacement of the vehicle electrical system control unit, the vehicle data is installed under the menu Write in data (see Section 6). Press the >> key.
10. System Tester displays Coding write-in complete. Press the >> key.
11. Exit the menu, switch off ignition, lock vehicle and read out fault memory once more.

Coding tire pressure monitoring system (RDK)

Note:
^ The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different texts or additions may appear in the Porsche System Tester.
^ Before the coding can be changed, an automatic control unit search must be performed.

1. Perform items 1 - 4.
2. Select Coding with the cursor keys and press the >> key.
3. The equipment, wheel monitoring, tire type and dimension, system can be coded.
4. Select variant and code if necessary.
