Shift Cable: Adjustments

Adjusting selector lever cable





Tools

1. Adjusting selector lever cable 1. Selector lever is in position P.
2. Remove selector knob.





3. Remove the cover of the centre console. To do this, unscrew two screws, disconnect plug connection, tip cover up and back and remove.





4. Unscrew selector support screws.





5. Undo selector lever cable screw connections on the selector support using the special inserts model AB170 tool.
6. Remove engine guard.





7. Remove shield on the transmission. To do this, unscrew three fastening screws.
8. Move shift lever on the transmission to position P. the highest position.





9. Screw in selector lever cable screw connections on the selector support using the special inserts model AB 170 tool and the accessory for the torque wrench: open ring wrench insert a/f 13 + adapter 98-1.
Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lbs.)





10. Screw on selector support screws.
Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ft. lbs.)





11. Connect cable connection on the underside of the centre console cover.
12. Insert centre console cover at the front and tip backwards. Screw in two screws.
13. Install selector knob.
14. Functional test of gear selecting system:
^ Will the vehicle start?
^ Do all the selector lever positions work?





15. Install shield on the transmission. To do this, screw in the three fastening screws.
16. Install engine guard.
