Removing selector support





1. Remove the cover of the center console. To do this, unscrew two screws, disconnect plug connection, tip cover up and back and remove.
2. Removing selector knob.





3. Remove selector lever cover with special tool unlocking hook 9713. To do this hook into the left and right of the unlocking bracket from the front and press outwards. Pull the cover upwards slightly at the same time.
4. Unlock the rear unlocking brackets in the same way.





5. Remove selector lever cover and separate cable connection.





6. Pull off electrical plug connections.





7. Remove the transverse strut of the centre console.





8. Unscrew selector frame screws.





9. Unscrew cable fastening screw on the cable adjustment using special tool special inserts model AB 170 and remove retaining clip.
10. Remove selector frame.

Installing selector support

Note:
^ When a new selector support is used, the cable adjustment of the selector cable must be modified.

^ Remove pins and take out cable adjustment.





^ Insert cable adjustment on the new selector support and install pins.





^ When doing so, ensure that the opening for the adjusting screw is turned upwards.

1. Push selector lever cable into cable adjustment.





2. Push on retaining clip and screw in fastening screw using the special inserts model AB 170 tool and the accessory for the torque wrench: open ring wrench insert a/f 13 + adapter 98-1 on the cable adjustment.
Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ft. lbs.)





3. Position selector frame and screw in screws.
Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ft. lbs.)





4. Install the transverse strut of the centre console.





5. Position electric plug connections on the selector frame.
6. Position cable connection on the underside of the selector lever cover.





7. Install selector lever cover. Make sure that the wiring harness is not pinched in the selector support.





8. Connect cable connection -inset- on the underside of the centre console cover.
9. Insert centre console cover at the front and tip backwards. Screw in two screws.
10. Installing selector knob.
