Removing And Installing Wire Harness For Engine

Technical values







Preliminary work
1. Remove rear wheels.
2. Disconnect the battery.
3. Remove generator.
4. Remove intake-air distributor.

Removing wire harness for engine










1. Release and pull off connectors on the six bar ignition modules -4, 6, 8, 33, 35, 37-.
2. Release and pull off connectors on the six injectors -20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29-.
3. Release and pull off connectors on the two knock sensors -23, 30-.
4. Release and pull off connectors on the two hall senders -11, 40-.
5. Release and pull off connectors on the two solenoid hydraulic valves for camshaft adjustment -12, 41-.
6. Release and pull off connectors on the two solenoid hydraulic valves for valve lift control -10, 39-.







7. Unscrew ground straps for the bar ignition modules for cylinder 1 3 and cylinder 4 6 -5, 7, 9, 34, 36, 38-. Two fastening screws are used on each side -arrow-.
8. Release and pull off the connector on the speed sender -15-.
9. Release connector on tank vent -31- (securing clip) and pull it off.
10. Release and pull off connector on engine compartment temperature sensor -32-.
11. Release and pull off connector on oil-level sensor for rail -18-.
12. Release and pull off connector on oil-level sender -24-.
13. Release and pull off connector on tuning flap -25- (3.8-litre engine only).
14. Release and pull off connector on oil temperature sensor -19-.
15. Screw off fastening nut on starter lead for terminal 50 -26- and remove the lead.
16. Release and pull off connector on compressor -16-.
17. Release and pull off connector on throttle housing -17-
18. Release and pull off connector on water temperature sensor -13-.
19. Release and pull off connector on oil pressure regulating valve -14-.
20. Release and pull off connector on flow control valve -43-.







21. Disconnect the three plug connections from the engine wire harness to the rear wire harness -1, 2, 3- (bayonet lock).







22. Unclip the cable duct at the left and right on the fuel distribution pipes.







23. Unscrew the three fastening screws on the cable duct -44, 45, 46- and unclip and remove the cable duct.
24. Remove wire harness for engine.

Installing wire harness for engine












1. Lay out wire harness for engine.







2. Clip in the cable duct and screw in the three fastening screws -44, 45, 46-. - Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) - Tightening torque: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)







3. Clip in the cable duct at the left and right on the fuel distribution pipes.
4. Plug in and lock the three plug connections from the engine wire harness to the rear wire harness -1, 2, 3- (bayonet lock).
5. Plug in connector on flow control valve -43- until the connector engages securely.
6. Plug in connector on oil pressure regulating valve -14- until the connector engages securely.
7. Plug in connector on water temperature sensor -13- until the connector engages securely.
8. Plug in connector on throttle housing -17- until the connector engages securely.
9. Plug in connector on compressor -16- until the connector engages securely.
10. Fit starter lead for terminal 50 -26- and secure with the fastening nut. - Tightening torque: 6.5 Nm (5.5 ftlb.)
11. Plug in connector on oil pressure temperature sensor -19- until the connector engages securely.
12. Plug in connector on tuning flap -25- (3.8-litre engine only) until the connector engages securely.
13. Plug in connector on oil-level sender -24- until the connector engages securely.
14. Plug in connector on oil level sensor for rail -18- until the connector engages securely.
15. Plug in connector on engine compartment temperature sensor -32- until the connector engages securely.
16. Plug in connector on tank vent -31- until the connector engages securely.
17. Plug in connector on speed sender -15- until the connector engages securely.







18. Screw on ground straps for the bar ignition modules for cylinder 1 3 and cylinder 4 6 -5, 7, 9, 34, 36, 38-. Two fastening screws are used on each side -arrow-. - Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
19. Plug in connectors on the two solenoid hydraulic valves for the valve lift adjusters -10, 39- until the connectors engage securely.
20. Plug in connectors on the two solenoid hydraulic valves for the camshaft actuators -12, 41- until the connectors engage securely.
21. Plug in connectors on the two hall senders -11, 40- until the connectors engage securely.
22. Plug in connectors on the two knock sensors -23, 30- until the connectors engage securely.
23. Plug in connectors on the six injectors -20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29- until the connectors engage securely.
24. Plug in connectors on the six bar ignition modules -4, 6, 8, 33, 35, 37- until the connectors engage securely.

Subsequent work
1. Install intake-air distributor.
2. Install generator.
3. Connect the battery.
4. Mount rear wheels.
