Backup Lights Come on Temporarily When Shifting

Vehicle Type:
Carrera GT (980)

Model Year:
2004 (4) and 05 (5)

Concerns:
Backup light come on temporarily when shifting gears from 1 > 2 and from 3 > 2.

Information:
When shifting into second gear (1 > 2 or 3 > 2) the backup light switch can be activated temporarily causing backup lights to come on. The cause are tolerances between the transmission shifting shaft and the backup light switch. An additional sealing ring has been placed on the backup light switch as needed in vehicles produced as of the date of introduction given below.

Whenever there is a customer complaint on vehicles produced before the introduction date listed below, the existing sealing ring needs to be removed from the backup light switch and then reinstalled with two new sealing rings.
