G 8.4 Front And Rear Aprons

G 8.4.1 Basic procedure

WARNING: -> 2 "Safety regulations" and read the product-specific safety instructions on the container labels.

NOTE:
- When painting new front and rear aprons that have been primed and supplied by the factory, it is not necessary to prime the part prior to the topcoat application.
- Do not sand down factory-applied primer if possible.

The front and rear aprons are painted according to the procedure used for painting new plastic parts or surfaces:

NOTE: The rear spoiler is not painted in the lower area -D- of the air outlet grille. The new part does not come primed ex-works in this area and must be masked prior to painting.







1. Paint each of the plastic components according to the instructions in -> G 8.4.1 "Basic procedure ."
2. Make sure the individual components have sufficient clearance in the area of the assembly openings; mask the side area of the opening -A- prior to painting. The paint coating should be as thin as possible in area -C- of the assembly housing.

Paint build-up on sensor membrane

NOTE:
- The layer thickness of the entire paint build-up on the sensor membrane may be max. 120 (mu)m without affecting the sensor function. This is also the case for multiple paint layers. In case of doubt, check the paint coating thickness of the membrane with a layer thickness measuring device or replace the sensor.
- When painting, make sure that not only the membrane but also the cylindrical membrane edge -X- has an even paint coating of at least 2 mm.

NOTE:
- To reduce the effort required in masking the sensors, the sensor packaging is designed so that it does not have to be removed when painting the sensors.







- New sensors come primed ex-works. Build up the paint layers in the usual manner for metal parts, making sure not to sand through the primer.
