- Only the two convertible top gears, levers, studs, the shouldered bolt and the rear control unit can be retrofitted in vehicles manufactured before 02.02.2006.
Preliminary work
1. Move convertible top to service position
1.1. Convertible top in service position: Open convertible top approx. 40 cm away from the windscreen frame. Pull Velcro fastener on retaining strap off the tension bow and secure on the front of the centring journal. Refer to Convertible top in service position.
2. Carefully press the ball socket -1- at the left and right with a screwdriver while keeping it tight to the ball head -3- on the convertible top support.
3. Press left and right push bar springs 8 out of the ball head of the lever.
Adjusting convertible top gears - as of production date 02.02.2006
1. Unscrew the fastening screw -1- on the lever -2-. Remove friction washer -3- and lever -2- from the convertible top gears -4-.
2. Unclip clip -6- from the flexible shaft -5- and remove the shaft from the drive motor -7-.
3. Insert the flexible shaft of the convertible top gear to be adjusted -4- into the drive motor and use the rocker switch in the vehicle to adjust the marking notch on the shaft -Arrow- so that it is parallel with the marking notch on the convertible top gear -Arrow-. (Adjust convertible top gear synchronously at the left and right).
4. Position friction washer -3- and lever -2- on the convertible top gear -4- and secure with the fastening screw -1- (micro-self-locking).
After loosening the fastening screw -1-, it must be replaced or secured fairly tightly with Loctite 243. M12: 80 Nm (59 ftlb.).
5. Insert the flexible shaft -5- into the drive motor -4- and secure with the clip -6-.
