2. Pull the lower seal -1- at the sides out of the profile of the retaining strip -2-.

3. Unscrew fastening screws -3- at the front of the roof frame.
4. Remove fastening screws -1- from the retaining strip -2-. Pull off seal for hood tip -3-.

5. Remove additional seal -4-.
6. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the roof frame and slightly raise the shaped sheetmetal part together with the hood covering -2-.

7. Press the ball socket of the push rod -6- off the ball joint of the main folding top bow.

8. Carefully remove hood by hand to the rear.
9. Unscrew fastening screws at the sides -1- using assembly tool with T25 insert 9744 to remove them from the tension rope -2- and unscrew clamping rail -3-.

Removing tension rope

The following spare parts and tools are required for repairing the tension rope:

1. Disengage tension rope at the shaped sheetmetal part.
1.1. Cut open plastic sleeve -1- with a pair of scissors.
1.2. Disengage tension rope -3- from tension spring at the shaped sheetmetal part.
1.3. Cut through the tension rope -2- with side cutters and pull it out of the hood covering -4-.

Installing tension rope

1. Place eye on the tension rope and measure the total length.
1.1. Push the eye fully onto the end of the tension rope.
1.2. Measure total length of tension rope from centre of eye to centre of eye with a tape measure -dimension X= 682 mm-.

2. Fit tension rope to the shaped sheetmetal part.
2.1. Pull tension rope -2- into the hood covering -4-.
2.2. Push shrink-fit hose -1- over the tension rope -2-.
2.3. Engage tension rope -2- in tension spring -3- at the shaped sheetmetal part.
2.4. Pull shrink-fit hose -1- over the tension spring. Shrink the heat-shrinking tube to the diameter of the tension spring by heating it with a hot-air gun.

3. Crimp eye with the tension rope
3.1. Attach eye B to the tension rope A and crimp twice using the crimping tool 9762. The second crimp must be applied at an offset of 90 degrees.

Subsequent work

Fit hood covering

1. Place tension rope -2- into the guide levels of the clamping rail -3- and tighten the middle fastening screw -1- on the main folding top bow using an assembly tool with T25 insert 9744. Tightening torque: 5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.).

2. Move hood to its initial position and press ball socket of push rod -6- onto the ball head of the main folding top bow.

3. Lay the hood covering -2- to the front and guide the shaped sheetmetal part into the roof frame from above.

4. Pull protective paper off the adhesive tape and fold the hood covering around the roof frame and into the groove without wrinkles.

5. Fix hood covering at front with clamps.
6. Make sure that the additional seal is clamped under the retaining strip.

The hood tip seal must not protrude downwards in the corner area. Make sure it is positioned correctly.

Pull off protective film and fit additional seal -4- flush with the roof frame.

7. Insert hood tip seal -3- at the corners into the roof frame from the front, position retaining strip -2- at the sides of the roof frame and secure with fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 2.8 Nm (2.0 ftlb.)

Secure hood tip seal at the front corners with fastening screws -3-. Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ftlb.)

8. Press lower seal -1- into profile of retaining strip -2-.

INFORMATION: Seal for convertible-top tip must not be trapped. There must be no gap between seal and covering, and the seal with the covering must run evenly. If necessary, pull the seal up and out and tap it in again.

9. Position cover strip -2- on the roof frame -3- and secure with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ftlb.)
