Removing exhaust manifold - Cayenne Turbo (type M48/50)
1. Unscrew the M8 fastening nuts of the exhaust manifold in reverse to the indicated sequence and remove. Replace nuts.
Diagram shows tightening sequence
2. Remove exhaust manifold seal.
Installing exhaust manifold - Cayenne Turbo (type M48/50)
NOTE:
- Visually inspect exhaust manifold for cracks and distortion.
- A cracked or distorted exhaust manifold may not be reinstalled.
- As a matter of principle, replace seals on manifold.
- If the studs in the cylinder head are damaged, they must be replaced.
1. Clean sealing surfaces. The surfaces must be free from foreign objects.
2. Use new seal -3- (the seal to the turbocharger is also replaced -4-). The exhaust manifold seal must be positioned so that the part number is visible from the outside -A-.
3. Push the exhaust manifold over the studs and fit it with 12 new fastening nuts M8. The fastening nuts are tightened in two stages as shown below in the specified tightening sequence -figure-. Tightening torque 19 ft.lb. Tightening torque 24 ft.lb.
Subsequent work
Subsequent work: Installing exhaust manifold
1. Fit turbocharger.
2. Fit starting catalytic converters with new gaskets.
3. Install engine.
