3 - Navigation
Legend: C = Cause/ A = Action

3.1 Vehicle in the map often has "loss of radar location".
Ask the customer how often this happens (sporadic or in certain places).
C: This is caused by one or more digitalization errors on the most recently driven roads.
A: This is not a fault. Loss of radar location is possible sporadically or in certain places. Normal navigation behavior (state-of-the-art).

3.2 Special destinations are not found.
C: Bad choice or definition of search criteria/areas.
A: This is not a fault. Define and narrow down criteria explicitly, e.g. search in "Destination area" or "around the vehicle"; perform search for "Restaurant" using "Hotel" as well, etc.

4 - SatRadio (USA only)
Legend: C = Cause/ A = Action

4.1 XM radio: Incomplete station list.
C1: "XM radio" not activated.
A1: Make sure that XM radio is activated using the receiver ID for "XM radio".

C2: Not all categories are activated in the "Menu" settings in PCM.
A2: This is not a fault. If "filtered" is displayed in the header in the XM "Menu", various categories are displayed under "Options" - "Category" in PCM.

5 - Voice control system (SBS)
Legend: C = Cause/ A = Action

5.1 Reduced or incorrect voice recognition when ambient noises are loud and/or when vehicle is driving fast.
C: If the ambient noises are too loud (cobblestones, heavy rain, hood or sliding roof open) or if there is wind noise on the microphone, the voice signal cannot be clearly differentiated from the ambient noises. The noises are detected as a fault.
A: This is not a fault, no action possible.

5.2 Voice input from passenger is not recognized or not understood.
C: The voice control system has an increased error rate when voice input is provided by the passenger.
A: This is not a fault. In sports cars, the hands-free microphones, which are also used for voice control, are explicitly directed towards the driver. Acoustic signals from other directions are consciously suppressed. This reduces the system detection rate for the passenger.

5.3 (City) "Centre" not supported as voice input.
C: The navigation database does not allow "Centre" as voice input. The driver is navigated automatically to the city center if no street is specified.
A: This is not a fault. In the address input field, the customer must respond with "Start of route guidance" when prompted to enter the desired street. A message to this effect is also displayed in the PCM footer when Help text for the voice control system is activated.

5.4 Voice input of city and street names not supported as whole-word input (when travelling abroad).
C: Whole-word input is always available when the local language of the destination matches the language set in PCM.
A: This is not a fault. Spell out the city and street names letter-by-letter.

5.5 USA only: Street names are not recognized without specifying related geographical cardinal points.
C: The street names are stored with geographical cardinal points in the navigation database.
A: Specify the related geographical point for the street name, e.g. "Northeast" for "Hammond Drive NE".

5.6 The menu items in the "SOUND" and "TRIP" applications and in the "SET" areas are not understood.

C: Reversing camera works as a transmitter station in the TV tuner.
A: This is not a fault, no action required.

7 - Telephone, general
Legend: C = Cause/ A = Action

7.1 - When someone calls, the mobile phone or vehicle telephone rings.
- Telephone is logged on: Callers are forwarded to mailbox.
- Call is interrupted although reception signal (field strength) is sufficiently strong.
C: Mobile phone and PCM are activated. The TWIN SIM cards log on to the network alternately (e.g. for location update).
A: This is not a fault. When using the TWIN card in the PCM: switch off mobile phone before entering the PCM PIN.

7.2 Connection is established after the second dialling attempt.
C1: The first dialling attempt logs the mobile phone TWIN card off the network and then logs the PCM TWIN card onto the network again.
A1: This is not a fault. Switch off the mobile phone before dialling.

C2: The SIM card is not completely logged into the network.
A2: This is not a fault. Wait for network confirmation.

7.3 - Some telephone settings cannot be changed (e.g. call forwarding, call waiting,...).

7.5 "SOS" function not possible without SIM card.
C: Due to misuse, this function is not available from a few providers.
A: Insert valid SIM card in PCM.

7.6 Call volume can vary.
C: According to GSM specification, a broad range is provided or allowed for transmitting volume. The call volume can vary, depending on network operator and method used by caller (phone network, mobile phone).
A: This is not a fault, no action required.

7.7 At high noise levels, one person's voice sounds "harsh" to the other party.
C: Interference noises (from engine, tires, wind, etc.) as well as essential voice and speech are in the low frequency range. To reduce interference noises, this frequency range must be strongly filtered by the telephone software. Parts of voice and speech are also filtered out in the process.
A: No action possible.

7.8 Volume from loudspeaker is sometimes considered too quiet in vehicle.
C: Volume in vehicle cannot be increased further because otherwise interference will increase for the other party and the call will be even less intelligible.
A: This is not a fault, no action required.

7.9 The caller can barely hear the person on the front passenger's side (sports cars only).
C: In sports cars, the microphone is directed towards the driver because of the loud background noise.
A: This is not a fault, no action required.

7.10 Sounds when ending the call.
C: Sounds are generated when ending a call on some mobile phones.
A: No action possible.

7.11 Bluetooth connection is available, but cannot be used for making and receiving calls.
C: The vehicle or PCM has additional equipment "Sport Chrono Package" or "Logbook", but no telephone or mobile phone preparation enabled.
A: This is not a fault. The connected devices can only be used for download (e.g. "Sport Chrono" and/or logbook data).

C: This function is not supported by some CDMA mobile phones.
A: This is not a fault, no action required.

8 - Telephone module (SimAP/internal)
Legend: C = Cause/ A = Action

8.1 Handset volume too low.
C: Incorrect handling of handset.
A: This is not a fault. The handset must not be held with the display side at your ear.

8.2 After pressing the "Lift handset" button, the radio or CD player is not muted immediately.
C: The "Muting" function is only activated when the call is connected or is about to be connected to the telephone network.
A: This is not a fault. If the "Phone Info on" setting is selected in the instrument cluster, the customer will see how the telephone connection is set up.

8.3 - Phonebook and/or messages are permanently grayed out.
- PIN must be entered each time PCM is started.
- Settings (Last PIN, Auto-update, Phonebook memory) cannot be configured under "SET Phone".
C: Transferred user data is inconsistent (contradictory).
A: Reset PCM system.
Sequence: PCM switched on - Info - Option - Set PCM system - Reset - Vehicle handover. Then - Re-teach mobile phone.

8.4 - SMS icon in the footer is flashing.
- No SMS reception.
C: The SMS memory in the SIM card is full.
A: This is not a fault. When the SIM card memory is full, some mobile phones store subsequent SMS messages in the mobile phone memory. But PCM only accesses the SIM card memory. New SMS messages can be received after one or more SMS messages have been deleted.

9 - Mobile phone preparation (HFP)
Legend: C = Cause/ A = Action

9.1 General Bluetooth connection problems (connecting, PCM <-> mobile phone connection terminated, etc.).
