Procedures

Removing and installing selector lever cable

Preliminary work
1. Move selector lever to position P.
2. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.
3. Remove underbody panel.

Removing selector lower cable

1. Remove transmission support.





2. Remove plastic cover -A- around pinion shaft.





3. Lever off selector lever cable on transmission control with a screwdriver and disengage selector lever cable from support.

Detaching selector lever cable inside vehicle
1. Remove selector knob.
2. Remove centre console.





3. Open bayonet lock.





4. Detach adjustment pins.





5. Unclip support bracket at selector frame.





6. Bend up the tabs -A- at the body opening and push the rubber sleeve outward through the body opening.

Installing selector lower cable

Note: The selector lever cable must be layed above the intermediate carrier.

1. Push cable through the body opening from below.





2. Apply a coating of lubricant (e.g. Contifix tire mounting paste) on the rubber sleeve and B+ wiring in the area of the body opening, insert the B+ wiring in the rubber sleeve and press rubber sleeve into the body opening.





Note: During installation, make sure the selector lever on the transmission is in position P (stop to the rear).

3. Clip selector lever cable into support on transmission and press end piece of selector lever onto transmission.





4. Fit plastic cover -A- around pinion shaft.





5. Fit transmission support.

Securing selector lever cable inside vehicle





1. Bend tabs -A-at body opening down.








2. Clip in support bracket at selector frame.





Note: During installation, make sure that the selector lever is in position P on the selector frame and transmission.

3. Engage adjustment pins.





4. Close bayonet lock.

Subsequent work

1. Install centre console.
2. Install selector knob.
3. Install underbody panel.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Switch through all transmission ranges and check operation.
