Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle at the specified jacking points.
2. Remove front underbody panel.
3. Remove front drive shaft.
4. Place oil collection pan under the transmission.

Removing sealing ring for front halfshaft flange





1. Lever out halfshaft flange with mounting lever.





2. Lever out sealing ring using mounting lever.

Installing sealing ring for front halfshaft flange





1. Fill the space between the dust and sealing lips on the new sealing ring with grease, e.g. Liqui-Moly.





2. Drive sealing ring into the transmission using pressure piece P 9537.





3. Replace circlip for the halfshaft flange. To do this, clamp the flange in the vice with a hexagon-head bolt -B- and press out the circlip with the new circlip -A-.
4. Grease circlip for easier fitting.





5. Drive halfshaft flange into transmission using a rubber hammer.

Subsequent work

1. Install front drive shaft.
2. Check oil for front final drive and top up if necessary.
3. Fit front underbody panel.
4. Lower the vehicle.
