Preliminary work
Warning: Risk of injury from hot engine and hot engine fluids.
^ Danger of burns, scalding, damage to skin, injury to the eyes.
-> Do not carry out work on the engine while it is hot.
1. Remove air cleaner housing.
2. Remove both catalytic converters.

Danger: Risk of engine falling down.
^ Danger of fatal injury, material damage.
-> Support the engine with the prescribed tool.
1. Support engine in installation position with a transmission jack.
2. Remove engine carrier. Unscrew four M10 collar nuts -1- and one M6 Torx screw -2-.
3. Unscrew M12 collar nuts on engine mounting (hydraulic mount).
4. Carefully lower engine and move engine carrier out of threaded bolts, remove carrier.
5. Carefully clean engine carrier using solvent naphtha and check for damage (e.g. cracks).
6. The engine carrier must be replaced if it is damaged.

1. Guide engine carrier into the threaded bolts. Screw on four M10 collar nuts and one M6 Torx screw.
2. Raise engine to installation position using a transmission jack and screw in two M12 collar nuts on the engine mounting.
3. Tighten four M10 collar nuts and M6 Torx screw. -> Tightening torque: 46 Nm (34 ftlb.); -> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
4. Tighten M12 collar nuts on left and right engine mountings. -> Tightening torque: 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)

1. Install catalytic converters.
2. Install air cleaner housing.
