S 8.7 Special Paint Finishes

S 8.7.1 Painting Targa crash bar, type 964

WARNING: -> 2 "Safety regulations" and read the product-specific safety instructions on the container labels.

NOTE:
- The Targa crash bar has a specially textured surface. This eliminates the possibility of partial repair.
- The texture effect changes depending on the viscosity of the textured paint.
- Before getting started, it is a good idea to make up a spray tester.

Follow the repair painting procedure for metal components shown below:







S 8.7.2 Boxster roll-over bar

NOTE: The roll-over bar is painted in the following color variants as standard:
- Matt black (powder coating)
- Body color
- C02 metal gray decorative paint (two-component hydro decorative paint)

S 8.7.3 Painting hardtops

NOTE:
- The hardtops from the spare parts range are supplied in individual parts.
- The aluminum roof part and the plastic cover moldings are primed for paint build-up.
- The rear window is glued into the painted roof part.

The plastic cover moldings are painted according to the surface painting procedure for plastic components:







The aluminum roof part is painted according to the following procedure:







S 8.7.4 Painting outer door handles

NOTE: The outer door handles from the spare parts range are supplied ready-primed.

The door handles are painted according to the procedure used for painting the surface of plastic parts:







NOTE:
- The outer door handle must be removed and disassembled for painting.
(For 986, 996: Remove outer door handle from the bottom part of the door handle. Other models: Remove the cover trim for the lock barrel on the outside as well as the release lever to open the door and the lock barrel on the inside of the door handle).
- The lock actuating linkage must also be covered to protect it from spray mist.
